Life’s a Beach

While Exeter may not be bestowed with visits from any big name bands, an endless array of nightlife venues or many sites of cultural significance, the one thing it can boast of is beaches. ImageImage

With sand and sea guaranteed at only twenty minutes away the beach is high up on any student’s to do list once exams are over, and if you are lucky enough to have a car then the treasures of Cornwall are on your proverbial doorstep. We had already visited Croyde earlier in the year – here are two more sandy spots we checked off our summer term bucket list.Image

Located about a twenty minute car journey or train ride away from Exeter this is the beach of students. Come down here on a sunny day during the third term and the beach will be back to back with fellow undergrads attempting solace from the over-packed library.

When here grab an ice-cream from one of the many cute little huts lining the main street and afterwards head into town for some old-school fish and chips.
Also accesible by bike the route from Exeter to Exmouth is beautiful, transporting you through rural Devon and passing by Topsham, the perfect budget day out!

Although this beach is a little further away (aprox 1.5 hours by car and not really accessible by public transport) it is worth the trek. The beach itself is a thing of natural beauty, and it attracts visitors from all over the country.

It’s main USP is surfing, located just north of Newquay this beach is full of cool, good-looking young surfers down to catch some sun and some waves… so it would be rude not to join them, right!?!
